GHA attended the launch of the Manawatū-Whanganui Māori economic development strategy, Te Pae Tawhiti, held in Ōhakune in early November. GHA were engaged by Te Rūnanga o Ngā Wairiki-Ngāti Apa at the beginning of 2016 to develop the strategy under the leadership and direction of the Māori Economic Strategy Group comprising Sir Mason Durie, Mavis Mullins and Pahia Turia. After extensive consultation with whānau, hapū, iwi and other stakeholders within the Manawatū-Whanganui rohe, GHA are proud to have developed an intergenerational strategy that reflects the objectives, aspirations and economic development activities that are important to Māori within the rohe. Te Pae Tawhiti takes the approach that collaboration through alliances among Māori across Manawatū-Whanganui could accelerate growth for the benefit of Māori and non-Māori in the rohe.
For their contribution to the strategy, GHA acknowledges Te Puni Kōkiri, Horizons Regional Council, MartinJenkins, Henley Hutchings, Te Ranga Tupua Iwi Collective, Southern Iwi Alliance, and of course those individuals that offered their whakaaro to the strategy.
